Addicus Books UPDATES

Here's the lastest news from Addicus Books

More E-Books are Added to Addicus Website
Addicus Books continues to add more e-Books to its Web site and plans to have the entire list of books available in electronic format by the end of 2009. "We are adding eBooks because of customers' increasing interest in being able to download books immediately," said Jack Kusler, Associate Publisher. "And as more and more portable devices are being used to read books, it makes sense to make our titles available in this new format."

Second Editions Planned for Fall 2009 Release
Second editions will be released in the Fall 2009 for two titles. The first one is Understanding Parkinson's Disease, orignally authored by David Cram, M.D. For the second edition, neurologists Xia Ke Gao, M.D., and Steven Schechter, M.D., join Dr. Cram as co-authors. Also being released as a new, second edition is Living with PCOS--Polycystic Ovary Syndrome, by Angela Best-Boss and Evelina Sterling. Endocrinologist Scott Isaacs, M.D., joins them as medical editor.

Books Go Back to Press
Three Addicus titles went back to press in early 2008. Among them was Exercising through Your Pregnancy by James Clapp, M.D., which is in its sixth printing. Also back to press was Overcoming Postpartum Depression by Linda Sebastian, N.P., now in its fourth printing. The Stroke Recovery Book by Kip Burkman, M.D., went back to press for its eighth printing.

Author of Living Will Book Is Published in Medical Journal

A new study, headed by Dr. Fred Mirarchi, author of Understanding Your Living Will, has just been published in the Journal of Emergency Medicine. The study, "Do Living Wills Have an Impact on Pre-Hospital Lifesaving Care?" confirms that confusion exists in the interpretation of living wills. According to Dr. Mirarchi, medical personnel's understanding about when to follow "do not resuscitate" orders is not always clear and may lead to a patient's wishes not be followed. After the study was published, Dr. Mirarchi was also interviewed by the New York Times.
